In mid-July 2021, hundreds of social media users shared a post saying that a new $2500 stimulus check would be distributed on July 30.
Misbar’s Analysis
The widely-shared post includes a link to an article allegedly providing more information about how to receive the check. However, Misbar discovered that clicking on the link leads to an image of a gorilla raising his middle finger.
Just in case, we checked the IRS economic impact payment page, and found that there have only been three rounds of payments. Child tax credits started to be distributed as of July 15, but that’s not the same as a stimulus check. There has been a recent push for a fourth stimulus check, but thus far no legislation has passed.
