Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar found no evidence that a full audit of the 2020 election results is set to begin in Pennsylvania. On July 7, Senator Doug Mastriano issued a letter to three counties in Pennsylvania — Philadelphia, York, and Tioga — requesting a forensic investigation of their election results. This letter was not a subpoena and did not guarantee that these counties would comply with the request.

As of July 16, both Tioga and York counties have responded to the request while Philadelphia has yet to reply. Republican-controlled Tioga county said that it will not allow third-party access to its voting machines. York county has raised concerns about the legality of the request and requested additional information. It has yet to approve an audit and is unlikely to do so due to costs and contractual responsibilities to Dominion.

Audits of the 2020 election in Pennsylvania have already taken place. In February, Pennsylvania completed a risk-limiting audit in 63 of the state’s 67 counties. The risk-limiting audit found no evidence of voter fraud.
