Emerging story
Polls came out this week that revealed that Harris’ approval ratings aren’t doing well. Right-leaning websites wrote articles about it, many claiming that her approval ratings are at a historic low for vice presidents.
Many on social media shared the claim and voiced their opinions about it.
This claim was further bolstered by The Hill, which posted an article detailing a few Democrats worrying about Harris’ low polling. One even said that having Harris support politicians may backfire and recommended that she decline to endorse other Democrats.
Misbar’s Analysis
While Harris' net favorability is low, it’s hardly at a historic level. VP Pence had a lower favorability during his term, as shown in this graph in the LA Times.
It appears that as the country grows more partisan in its political beliefs, net favorability has lowered accordingly. Further, some believe that others are unwilling to support Harris because of her race and gender.
