The Claim

A video shows a mobile taskforce abducting citizens and forcing them to get vaccinated.

Emerging story

A viral video appeared on social media which allegedly shows an Australian task force chasing and catching someone, and forcing them to get the Covid-19 vaccination. One user captioned the video, “People in Australia are being chased down and forced to take the jab. Don’t settle for this America.” Voiceovers on some videos state, “This is the New World Order...they have a mobile task unit to vaccinate people.”

Misbar’s Analysis

There is no evidence of forced vaccinations in Australia. The video accompanying these claims instead shows rioting in Sydney, Australia. As Reuters reports, over 300,000 Australian citizens participated in protests against lockdown measures in 2020. The riots turned violent, with protestors throwing objects at police officers and their horses. Videos show other angles of the scene (at the 1:16 mark), as cops arrested several individuals.

Fears of forced vaccination arose in Australia after Prime Minister Scott Morrison stated last August that they should be mandatory. In the wake of the backlash he received, Morrison openly declared no mandatory vaccination would occur, but controversy still followed. In February, protests were organized on Facebook to rally against mandatory vaccinations, and citizens continue to clash with the government over the perceived threat of mandatory vaccinations.
