Misbar’s Analysis

Rodman’s t-shirt in the photo has been altered. The original photo, taken by journalist Adek Berry in 2018, shows Rodman wearing a t-shirt promoting, “PotCoin,” a cannabis cryptocurrency that sponsors the former basketball star. The t-shirt depicts the company’s website, along with the text, “Peace Starts in Singapore.”

The original photo is from a 2018 trip to Singapore (Getty Images).

In the altered photo, the text on the t-shirt appears flat. Rodman is moving, and a t-shirt would otherwise show some movement along with his body. The surrounding edges also appear to be a slightly different shade than the rest of his shirt.

The original photo was taken during a 2018 trip to Singapore for a summit with former President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Rodman has an ongoing relationship with both leaders: He’s twice appeared on Trump’s television show “Celebrity Apprentice,” and he’s met with Kim multiple times, with the two bonding over shared interests in sports and music.
