A claim is circulating on social media that the well-known video content creator Nuseir Yassin, who goes by Nas Daily, has lost 20 million of his 40 million followers in one minute. This comes following a campaign to reduce his followers that initiated a #CancelNasDaily after being accused of exploiting indigenous Filipino artists. The claim also has an accompanying image, which shows a post of him celebrating 40 million followers and then his Facebook followers at 20 million, indicating that he lost half his following.
Misbar’s Analysis
The Facebook post in which Nas Daily celebrates its 40 million-strong followings is misleading. Nas Daily does not have 40 million followers on Facebook but rather a combined joining of over 40 million across multiple accounts on their social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Tiktok. The link to this clarification was shared underneath the post.
While Nas Daily still has over 20 million followers on Facebook, the #CancelNasDaily hashtag has lost over half a million followers, as can be seen below in comparison up to date. Nas Daily Facebook had a following of almost 20,992,940, and he currently has 20,302,567 followers.
The latest accusation of exploitation is not the first he received. He has also been accused of exploiting the Palestine-Israel issue for his own benefit, as previously investigated by Misbar. Given the findings, the Misbar team confirms the claim as misleading, Nas Daily is losing followers but not at the alleged rate.
