Social media users have been sharing a photo of a 5G service tower run by the company Delta Power Systems with captions such as, âCould this be related?â and, â5G technology is the real âDelta variant.ââ Users extrapolated that 5G towers maintained by Delta Power Solutions caused the delta variant of COVID-19.
Misbarâs Analysis
There is no evidence that 5G towers or Delta Power Solutions have anything to do with the delta variant of COVID-19. Experts agree that there is no link between 5G and COVID-19, because viruses cannot travel on electrical signals.
COVID-19 is transmitted via droplets of respiratory fluids from an infected person, much like the common cold and influenza. It has long been known in the medical field that this is how certain viruses and diseases are transmitted. Research beginning in 1956 discovered this was how deadly tuberculosis spread, and medical professionals refer to the protective measures against such illnesses as âdroplet precautions.â This is why masks are effective in stopping the spread of COVID-19.
Delta Power Solutions is a company based in Taipei, Taiwan. The company offers everything from electric vehicle chargers to industrial robots, and telecom equipment. They do not run 5G towers, but they provide power sources that do.
The name is merely a coincidence. The âdeltaâ of the delta variant is derived from the World Health Organizationâs naming system for mutations of known viruses. The delta variant was first seen in India and has proven to be more contagious than other mutations of COVID-19. Claiming that 5G towers cause any sort of viral infection is rooted in misunderstanding or malfeasance.
