Misbar’s Analysis

We concluded that the advertised lineup for the 2022 Lovers and Friends Festival is indeed real. The festival was originally set to take place on May 9, 2020 in Los Angeles, but was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Back in 2020, before the festival was officially canceled, there was some controversy as to whether or not the lineup was legitimate. This was due to scheduling issues and some of the festival’s artists claiming they were not taking part in the event. Ja Rule, who was a co-founder of the “greatest party that never happened” – the infamous Fyre Festival –  is one of the festival's performers, which likely led to the claim.

However, Snoop Dogg, one of the event’s promoters, came forward to clear up the misunderstandings and confirm that the lineup was in fact real.

In July 2021, it was announced that the Lovers and Friends Festival was rescheduled to take place on May 14, 2022. Shortly after the announcement, the rumors that the event’s lineup was fake began to circulate once again. Many of the social media users spreading this false claim are sharing an old Tweet that’s discussing the legitimacy of the 2020 event.

Once again, there is no evidence the festival is fake, the announced lineup is still real, and Snoop Dogg is still backing the event on social media.
