Misbar’s Analysis
We discovered the picture shared on social media was of the elite runner Alysia Montano and she was pregnant while she was competing. However, in the photo shared recently on social media, Montano was eight months pregnant at the 2014 USA Track and Field Championships and she did not win.
Three years later, Montano competed again pregnant, this time she was only five months along.
Montano joins a long list of female athletes who have competed pregnant. Serena Williams won her seventh Australian Open title while she was expecting. Kerri Walsh Jennings won her third Olympic gold in beach volleyball at the London Olympics when she was five weeks pregnant. Malaysian shooter Nur Suryani Mohamed Taibi also competed in the Olympic games pregnant.
