MENA: A reverse image search revealed that the video is from Syria, not Afghanistan, as claimed. The video published online in 2015 shows a woman being publicly executed in Syria by a wing of al Qaeda.
The clip started circulating after the Taliban's takeover, falsely claiming they began killing women in public. However, the Taliban had sought to portray themselves as more moderate than when they imposed a strict Islamic rule in the late 1990s.
In his first press conference, the Taliban's spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid stated they made declarations on women's rights, the safety of Afghan workers, and media freedom.
