Social media users are circulating a video that depicts a Taliban man destroying a television set. The accompanying claim is that the Taliban started destroying televisions, declaring they are ‘haram’ or forbidden in Islam, after recently seizing power in Afghanistan, including Kabul's capital.

The clip was also found uploaded on Youtube around the same time in March. Although the video depicts the Taliban destroying a television set, it is an old video, long before they seized power in Kabul.
The Taliban are already considered an extremist group with years of human rights abuses in the past. Such a video circulating as current is misleading and spurs already high fears and tensions that the group will continue in their old ways.
