The Claim

Emerging story
On August 25, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin ordered all military leaders to set deadlines to get their respective branches of the military vaccinated. Some people on social media are claiming that the Marines have stood up to this mandate and are refusing to vaccinate their troops.
We debunked a similar claim recently, but Austin's order made the claim go viral once more.
Misbar’s Analysis
As we discussed previously here at Misbar, this claim comes from Real Raw News, a major source of fake and outlandish claims. Real Raw News is satire. In the “About Us” section on their website, they acknowledge that they are a satire publication and that their articles aren’t to be taken seriously.
While there may be individual Marines who choose to refuse the vaccine, there has not been a group Marines effort to do so. Further, the article claims that David H. Berger is the one leading the anti-vax Marines charge, when in fact he has encouraged “all Marines and their families to get the shot to slow the spread of the virus.”
