Former President Donald Trump has made quite a few statements regarding the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. He’s criticized President Joe Biden’s withdrawal timeline, called it the greatest embarrassment in the country’s history, and said it was a “tragic mess.” However, he never said anything about Democrats being magicians that were using Afghanistan to distract their audience.
USA Today contacted Liz Harrington, a spokeswoman for Trump regarding the quote. According to Harrington, the statement did not come from the former president. While we couldn’t find the original source, many other versions of the quote don’t attribute the words to Trump.
