The Claim
The founders of the Bonne Maman Company helped save a Jewish family from the Nazis.

Emerging story
This claim first started spreading on social media in February 2020. A law professor shared a story in which he met a woman at a grocery store picking out a jar of preserves. She then told him that she was a Holocaust survivor and that the creators of the Bonne Maman brand helped her family hide from the Nazis.
This story spread on social media.
Misbar’s Analysis
Besides the law professor’s story, there’s no other evidence to support the claim. The Genosovo family, who started the brand, has refused to comment.
The woman in the story says that she was saved in Paris. However, Bonne Maman was founded in Southwest France, likely the village of Biars-sur-Cère. This village is over 300 miles away from Paris.
At the moment, there’s not enough evidence to suggest that the founders of Bonne Maman saved anyone from the Holocaust.
