Social media and some news sites, particularly in Arabic, are circulating a video that they claim shows the six Palestinian prisoners who escaped from Gilboa prison in Israel in their last known appearance inside the facility. The clip shows a few men sitting and some walking in the courtyard of what appears to be a prison.
Misbar’s Analysis
MENA: The Misbar team analyzed the claim and found it to be misleading. An investigation revealed that the video clip is outdated and was published on the 3rd of November 2020. The video was found on the Facebook page of Tubas Branch Prisoner Club with the caption in Arabic. The scenes were published by Mivzak Dromi, a Hebrew news publisher. The video was taken the day before in section three of Gilboa prison where scores of prisoners detained were infected with the Coronavirus.
Given the findings, the Misbar team can confirm that the video is outdated and is unrelated to the recent Gilboa prison escape in which six Palestinians dug a tunnel and escaped.
