The Claim

Moroccan forces have attacked three Algerian truck drivers in Northern Mauritania.

Emerging story

According to news websites and social media users, Moroccan forces allegedly killed three Algerian truckers in northern Mauritania between Ouargla and Nouakchott.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar researched the claim and found it to be false. Moroccan news outlets firmly disputed the entire story. "The reason for the disaster was an electric malfunction that hit the vehicle transporting gasoline from Tindouf camps to Mauritania," according to certain Moroccan sources.

The Mauritanian National Army refuted the claim that Morocco had attacked Algerian trucks in Northern Mauritania.

Mauritania issued this statement after some Algerian media sources circulated videos, photographs, and stories accusing Morocco of attacking Algerian commercial trucks.

The Misbar team discovered that the image related to the claim was released in August of last year and purported to show Morocco's alleged targeting of a Polisario's truck.
