The Claim

A video depicts the death of 13 children in South Africa after receiving the COVID-19 vaccination.

Emerging story

A video showing children's dead bodies strewn on the ground has gone viral on social media. According to the related claim, the children died as a result of COVID-19 vaccines. The news comes only days after South African health officials concluded that vaccines were safe for children aged 12 to 17.

Misbarā€™s Analysis

The Misbar team investigated the claim by conducting a reverse image search, which indicated that the image was uploaded to the internet in February 2020, as seen below.

According to Al Jazeera and the BBC, images circulating indicate a school stampede in Kenya that killed a dozen students.

South African health officials recently announced the expansion of vaccinations for children from 12 to 17 years old. There were no reports of vaccine-related deaths among children in South Africa, according to credible news sources. The Misbar team affirms that the claim is false based on the findings of the investigations. The youngsters died in February 2020 in Kenya as a result of a stampede, according to many trustworthy sources, and are unrelated to COVID-19 vaccines or South Africa.
