Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating video and found it misleading. According to Euronews, the viral video was taken when migrants drowned in the Mediterranean Sea off the Libyan coast in May 2016.
However, the voice recording included with the video is related to the recent drowning incident off the coast of Greece. Misbar confirmed this by contacting the families of the migrants who were on the boat in the incident.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expats previously confirmed that eight Palestinians on board the boat survived and were later transferred to shelters. At the same time, the search for the missing individuals continues.
