Emerging story
Multiple online sources such as news sites and social media users, including Facebook and Twitter pages, have alleged that NASA has officially warned of a catastrophic phenomenon. According to the claim, NASA satellites have detected something terrifying in the Earth's atmosphere that could lead to the extinction of humanity and the end of the world.
Misbar’s Analysis
NASA did not issue any warnings that could have led to the extinction of humanity and the end of the world, as was claimed by Misbar when it investigated the rumor. It was discovered during the Misbar investigation that NASA published a report last June that used data collected from three of its satellites to examine the effects climate change has on the atmosphere.
A 30-year study by NASA's satellite found that the mesosphere, the upper atmosphere, is cooling by 4 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit and contracting by 500 to 650 feet per decade.
However, neither NASA nor the study published in the Journal of Atmospheric and Earth-Sun Physics claimed the circulating.
Therefore, based on the findings, the Misbar team confirms the claim is misleading as NASA did not issue any recent warnings based on the findings.
