Emerging story
Facebook and Twitter accounts have recently circulated a video clip claiming that it showed a person swept up by the storm that hit Istanbul recently.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulated claim and found it misleading. The video was taken at a time older than claimed, in March 2019, during another storm in Turkey.
Photo Description: The screenshot shows a piece of news titled, “Germany denies Lukashenko’s claims that she had agreed to receive refugees.”
According to reports in the media, Sadik Kocadalli, the man who was holding the umbrella, was uninjured when the umbrella hit some column.
The claim started to circulate as strong winds have hit Turkey’s Istanbul during the last few days, leaving four people dead and 46 injured, according to Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, known as AFAD.
