The alleged document mentioned that the head of the Egyptian Preacher Union, Youssef Al Qaradawi, was the one who recommended Mohammed Al Awadi for the position.
Misbar’s Analysis
The International Union of Muslim Scholars has issued an official statement denying the story.
Photo description: IUMS denied the story.
The spread of the main document was in the context of the former Egyptian football star Mohamed Aboutrika's stand against homosexuality during a TV program. He criticized the English Premier League's support for what he called the phenomenon of homosexuality.
The responsible for the fabrication of the document may have chosen to use the name of the preacher Mohammed Al Awadi based on the controversy over his statement and opinions about homosexuality last year.
