Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulated claim and found it to be fake. The International Committee of Mediterranean Games for Oran 2022 has denied the claim in a statement sent to Misbar, stressing that Algeria will not accept Israel’s participation.

By checking the official website of the Mediterranean Games, we can find that only 26 states are eligible to participate in the 2022 Mediterranean Games, which do not include Israel.

In 2015, the former head of the Algerian Olympic Committee, Mustapha Berraf, stated that Israel’s participation in the Oran Mediterranean Games is not possible as Israel is not a member of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games, nor did Israel apply for membership.
