Misbar investigated the circulated claim and found it misleading. The photos are outdated, and they do not depict Egypt’s Saint Catherine city on Monday, Dec 20, 2021.
Misbar has found that the first photo was shared on a website called Egyptian Streets on January 11, 2020. The photo was indeed taken of Saint Catherine city at the time.
The second photo was shared with a group of other pictures on a website called Alwan, which is an affiliate of the Egyptian newspaper El Watan News on January 10, 2020
On January 3, 2019, Sout Al Omma newspaper published the third photo. At the time, the photograph was taken in Saint Catherine's city. Misbar discovered the same image on a hotel booking website.
On January 10, 2020, Alghad TV website published the fourth photo as part of an album depicting ice-covered Saint Catherine city. The photos were collected from Facebook pages at the time, dated January 10, 2020.
Since Monday morning, Dec 20, 2021, it has been snowing in Egypt’s Saint Catherine city, south of Sinai, as temperatures were falling below zero.
