Emerging story
Twitter accounts have recently shared a photo claiming it showed the window of a vehicle transporting Israeli soldiers recently smashed by Palestinian stone-throwers near the settlement of Yitzhar, south of Nablus city.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s team has investigated the circulated claim and found that it was misleading. The photo is outdated; it was first shared by Israeli website 0404 on Dec. 21, 2020. The website then mentioned that the photo showed a vehicle transporting Israeli settlers as stones were thrown at it near Gush Etzion, south of Bethlehem.
The same website republished the photo another time on June 15, 2021, as well as on Dec. 26, indicating that it is archived.
The claim has been circulating against the backdrop of Israeli news sources publishing, on Dec 26, the news that a bus carrying Israeli soldiers was hit with stones, near the settlement of Yitzhar, south of Nablus. The soldiers fired at the youth throwing stones, who were able to flee the area without injuries.
