Misbar’s team investigated the claim and found it misleading. The photo is outdated; several sports media outlets shared it in 2013, indicating that it showed the Wunna Theikdi Football Stadium in the Burmese capital Naypyidaw. Misbar could not verify these reports or ascertain whether the photo was fabricated or not.
The claim started to circulate following the start of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon 2021) in Cameroon, under the auspices of the Confederation of African Football and is scheduled to run from Jan 9 to February 6, 2022.
