Websites and social media accounts, particularly on Facebook, have recently circulated an image that they claimed was of the Houthi missile attacks on the United Arab Emirates, which took place in the early hours of today, Monday, January 24, 2022.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating claim and discovered it to be false. The image, which depicts Saudi Arabia thwarting an attack by the Houthi group at the time, is old and has been published since October 24, 2020. Misbar was unable to confirm the date and location of the photograph, but it is certain that it was not taken during the recent Houthi attack on the UAE, as shown in the screenshot below, which shows the date.

The claim circulated after the Arab Coalition forces announced that the UAE intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi group from Yemen towards it at dawn today, Monday, January 24, and their remnants landed in separate locations in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

According to the findings, the Misbar team confirms that the circulating image is old and that the claim is false.
