Facebook accounts and pages have recently shared photos purporting to show the refugee camps in northern Syria during the most recent snowstorm.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating images and discovered that they were misleading. The photos are old and have previously been published by news websites covering various events. The BBC website published two pictures recently circulating in December 2013, reporting the suffering of Syrian refugees during the Alexa storm that swept through Lebanon.
A photo from Lebanon's Storm Huda in January 2015 has also been circulating recently.
According to the Syrian Civil Defense, many refugee camps were damaged by a snowstorm in northern Syria, which had a negative impact on the refugee's condition.
