This Image Does Not Depict the Recent Houthi Attacks on the UAE
The image is old and was posted in August 2020 (Twitter).

The Claim

The image depicts the recent ballistic missile attacks on the United Arab Emirates by the Houthis.

Emerging story

Social media users have circulated a picture claiming it shows Houthi ballistic missiles hitting the United Arab Emirates recently.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar has investigated the claim and found it to be misleading. The image is old and was uploaded to some news websites in August 2020, and it shows the market of Ajman catching fire.

According to Ajman Police, the blaze did not cause injuries or deaths, but it damaged parts of a building that had been closed for four months due to COVID-19 restrictions.

It is worth mentioning that the UAE Ministry of Defense has announced, last Monday, January 31, a new interception of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis, coinciding with the first visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog to Abu Dhabi.

The military spokesman for the Houthi group, Yahya Saree, announced recently, in a tweet, that Abu Dhabi was targeted with several ballistic missiles.
