Old Video Shared as Recent Burj Khalifa Attack
A fire broke out at The Adress Downtown Hotel in Dubai (Twitter).

The Claim

The video shows the Burj Khalifa engulfed in flames after being targeted by Houthi airstrikes.

Emerging story

Users on social media have circulated a video of a building catching fire, with users claiming that the footage depicts the Burj Khalifa catching fire recently as a result of Houthi airstrikes. The spread of this claim coincided with Israeli President Isaac Herzog's visit to the United Arab Emirates, as well as the UAE's intercept of the Houthi rebels' third ballistic missile launch.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar's team investigated the claim and discovered it to be false. On December 31, 2015, the footage and similar videos and pictures were posted to social media, depicting a fire breaking out at The Adress Downtown Hotel in Dubai.

According to news websites, an electrical fault caused the fire at The Adress Down Town hotel near the Burj Khalifa on New Year's Eve 2016. According to other news reports, the tower was evacuated, and 16 people were injured.
