Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the claim and found it misleading, as the video was from 2016. It depicts a group of Japanese journalists brought by Russian President Vladimir Putin with a Japanese Akita-Inu dog given to him by the governor of the Japanese city of Akina, Norrichisa Sataki, in 2012.

The widely circulated claim arose in response to Japan's protests of Russia's launch of missile exercises in the Kuril Islands.
