Emerging story
A photo purportedly documenting a massive fire that broke out in Iran after four explosions at military and nuclear facilities, including the Parchin military complex, has been circulating on social media pages and accounts.
Misbar’s Analysis
According to the findings of Misbar's investigation, the widely reported claim is misleading. A fire in a market in Tehran, Iran, broke out on July 18, 2018, according to Iranian news sites, and they published this photo at the time. However, there were no reports of explosions at Iranian military facilities in February.
According to Iranian news reports on January 15, there were explosions in western Iran. "Lightning strikes caused the explosions," Majid Mir Ahmadi, an Iranian Interior Ministry official, stated.
