Misbar’s Analysis

After investigating the claim, Misbar discovered that the image does not depict the February 14th fire at a military base in Mahidasht district of Kermanshah province in western Iran. On September 12, 2021, the Iranian news agency Ilna News published the photo. In the industrial city of Tabriz, capital of East Azerbaijan Province, northwest Iran, an explosion of a furnace in a factory specializing in manufacturing machinery was reported by the site. They also state that three people were injured as a result of the explosion.

Explanatory related image

The claim comes as a fire breaks out on February 14 in an Iranian Revolutionary Guards support base in Mahidasht, Kermanshah province, western Iran. According to Reuters, no injuries were reported. Although the fire did occur, the image depicts an explosion at a factory in September 2021, so Misbar confirms that the claim was misleading.
