A photo of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh and sitting next to Israeli President Isaac Herzog has been widely circulated on social media.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar's team investigated the circulating photo and discovered it to be a fake. The real image is of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Erdogan meeting in the Russian city of Sochi in 2021, and the image circulating was fabricated.
The satirical website Al Hudoud published the fabricated image, which some users later shared on social media as real. The photo was altered by adding the Palestinian keffiyeh and the face of Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
Moreover, Israel's President Isaac Herzog is scheduled to visit Turkey in March.
