Misleading Videos Shared as Europe Eunice Storm
Circulating videos are not related to the storm (Facebook).

The Claim

Videos purporting to show Europe's most recent Eunice Storm.

Emerging story

Social media users have circulated videos claiming they are related to the Eunice storm.

A widely circulating clip purported to show a trampoline flying through the air because of the Eunice storm.

Another user has a video of people being lifted by strong winds. Using the hashtag #StormEunice, the video has more than 409,000 views.

Another user tweeted a video of rows of cars lined up along a pier, facing a ferry rocking from side to side as it docked. The video was shared on Twitter with the hashtag #StormEunice. At the time of writing, it had received over 3 million views.

Misbarโ€™s Analysis

Mibsar has investigated the claim and found it to be misleading.

The first video was already uploaded to Twitter in 2021. Our team has found that the same video was uploaded to TikTok in June 2021 with a caption reading: โ€œWow crazy tornado in Barking London. Wheelie bins flying through the air! crazy weather.โ€

Photo description: The video is old.

The second video is also outdated. It was already posted to social media in January 2018. Our team also noticed that many users circulated the same footage in 2020.

The third video is unrelated to the Eunice storm. Google Reverse Image Search has shown that the clip is from February 2020. It depicts a โ€œFerry filmed lurching from side to side during Storm Dennis in Scotland.โ€ Many media outlets have shared the video earlier in 2020.

The managing director of the ferry company CalMac, Robbie Drummond, has retweeted the video on February the 15th, 2020, and mentioned that โ€œAll credit to the skill of our Masters and one to consider for those pressing CalMac to take more risk.โ€

The Eunice storm has battered Northwestern Europe and killed at least nine people. According to news reports, around 200000 homes have been left without power. Meanwhile, high winds led to school closures and flight cancellations after many warnings. But the videos we mentioned in this report are unrelated to the Eunice Storm.
