Facebook and Twitter accounts have recently circulated a claim attributed to Bloomberg, in which the American company allegedly said that, contrary to his earlier promise, the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan would not be visiting Saudi Arabia this February. Instead, he is waiting for the Saudi government to set a new date for the meeting during the next couple of months.

Misbar’s team investigated the circulated claim and found it fake. Bloomberg did not publish the alleged news about president Erdoğan postponing his visit to Saudi Arabia. The claim was not published by any official Saudi or Turkish source either. Recently, Bloomberg published several news articles in relation to Turkey and the Turkish president, but none of these articles mentioned anything in relation to the alleged claim.
Erdoğan said on Jan. 3, 2022, during his participation in an event for Turkish export businessmen, that he would visit the Gulf state this February.
The Turkish Anadolu Agency reported on Feb. 16 that Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that his country and Saudi Arabia continue to engage in constructive dialogue. That progress is expected to materialize through concrete steps in the coming period.
The Turkish president visited the UAE on Monday, Feb. 14, which was his first visit to Abu Dhabi in nearly nine years since the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
