Misbar’s team investigated the circulated claim and found it fabricated. The video is made up of two parts, and it does not show president Putin driving a military truck.
According to Russia Today, the original video shows Putin driving a Kamaz truck during the opening of the longest bridge in Europe in May 2018.
The video clip was merged with another video from an armored vehicle race using design programs. The second video was posted on the Russian defense ministry’s YouTube channel in May 2021.
The claim started to circulate against the backdrop of the continued Russian-Ukrainian standoff despite warnings of war erupting between the two countries.
