Social media users have circulated a screenshot purporting an official Ukrainian Twitter account has issued a tweet threatening Russia reading: “Invade us if you are gay.”
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar has investigated the claim and found it to be satirical. Our team looked up the user name shown on the screenshot and found it belongs to another different account. We did not find a similar Twitter account with the profile picture used in the screenshot.
Our team also looked up the keywords in the Tweet and did not find any similar tweet.
There are many differences between the original Twitter account and the one appearing on the screenshot. It is a sign that there is limited knowledge of photo editing, which affects the size of the verification badge and its color, as shown in the following image.
