These Images Are Unrelated to the Russian Military Action in Ukraine
The pictures are old and unrelated (Twitter).

The Claim

These pictures were taken on February 24, 2022, when the Ukrainian military shot down two Russian fighter jets and one of their helicopters.

Emerging story

Social media users have circulated two pictures claiming the Ukrainian military shooting down Russian fighter jets after an earlier attack on Ukraine following President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of a military operation in Ukraine.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar has investigated the claim and found it misleading. The pictures are old and unrelated to the recent events in Ukraine.

The first picture was posted to the Shutter Stock image store in August 2015 as a demonstration performance of flight group Falcons of Russia devoted to the Russian Federation's National Flag celebration.
