A photo purporting to show Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in uniform following Russia's attack on his country on February 24 has been making the rounds on social media accounts and pages.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the image and discovered it to be misleading. It was dated to April 2021, during the Ukrainian president's visit to military positions near the front line with Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine's Donbas region.
This claim was made after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced at dawn on Thursday, February 24, 2022, the beginning of a military operation in Ukraine, a few days after he signed a decree recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of eastern Ukraine.
