Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar’s team investigated the circulated video and found it misleading. The video is outdated; it was shared earlier on Jan. 20, 2022, on TikTok, allegedly showing a thunderstorm. Misbar’s team is yet to verify the exact location and date of the video. However, the team still managed to show earlier footage of the video that predates Russian president Vladimir Putin’s announcement of the beginning of a military operation in Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.

The video started to circulate following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement this morning, on Thursday, Feb. 24, that his country’s military is starting a special military operation in Ukraine’s eastern region of Donbas, two days after recognizing Ukraine’s two breakaway regions.
