Social media accounts and pages have recently circulated a video claiming to show the Russian President Vladimir Putin walking in the streets of Kyiv after the war in Ukraine.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating and found it misleading. The video was published by Russian media in August 2013. It is, in fact, an old video of Russian President Vladimir Putin wandering the streets of St. Petersburg alone after the funeral of his judo coach, Anatoly Rakhlin, who has "played an important role" in his life, according to President Putin.
The circulated claim coincides with the ongoing Russian war on Ukraine and the rising tension of battles over many Ukrainian cities.
