The Claim

A video depicts a girl putting fake blood on a crisis actor’s face pretending to be a civilian victim.

Emerging story

Social media users have circulated a video of a girl putting blood makeup on a young man. The video went viral on Twitter as evidence that civilian victims are crisis actors, and the war on Ukraine is fake.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar has investigated the claim and found it to be misleading. The footage is from the production set of a German-Ukrainian series, Contamin, about the outbreak of a deadly pandemic. It was filmed in 2020 and has nothing to do with the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The co-owner of the Ukrainian production company DRIU, Daria Dryuchenko, posted the footage on TikTok in 2021 as an archived page shows.
