Emerging story
A video clip has been circulating on Facebook and Twitter, claiming that Ukraine fabricated scenes purporting to show dead Russian soldiers.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar has investigated the circulating claim and found that it was misleading, as the video clip is older than claimed. The video was published on TikTok by the art designer Vasya Ivanov on March 28, 2021. The video’s description clarifies that it was taken to document the filming process of a video clip for the Russian rapper known as “Husky.”
Vasya Ivanov also published other videos, shot from different angles, showing elements similar to those in the circulating video. There is also a match between the video circulating recently and a clip that Husky posted on his YouTube channel in September 2020.
According to Russian news outlets that quoted the director of the video clip, the song was filmed near a hospital in the capital, Moscow. By checking the geographical location via Google Maps, Misbar’s team found that the song was filmed near an X-ray imaging building in the Russian capital, Moscow.
The allegation is circulating amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, which began on February 24.
