Misbar’s Analysis
The photo does not depict a crying Ukrainian soldier, but a British paratrooper. Using TinEye, Misbar's team found that the circulating photo was first published in an online article in December 2019. The photo originally depicted Fin Doherty, the brother of a slain Afghanistan war hero, crying after receiving his paratrooper beret.
The circulating photo is outdated and not related to the Russia-Ukraine war.
