A photo that purports to show a tractor pulling a military jet has been shared thousands of times on social media. According to users, the photo depicts a Ukrainian farmer capturing a Russian military jet.
Misbar’s Analysis
Using TinEye, it was found that the image was uploaded to the internet in 2013. The photo was published in a local Croatian news outlet in 2011. According to the article, a military jet was towed through Zagreb on its way to an event in Jarun to commemorate the country's armed forces' 20th anniversary, as shown in the screenshot below.
Furthermore, when the jet was closely inspected, the Croatian coat of arms was visible, as seen in the comparison below.
The investigation also revealed that the image is a popular meme titled "Hurry Ivan, we will miss (the) air battle," which was uploaded to a meme website seven years ago.
Therefore, based on the findings the Misbar team confirms the claim is misleading and the image is not related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
