A photo, which purportedly shows children from Chad carrying tablets with an Israeli flag on their covers, has recently circulated among social media users.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating photo and found the claim to be misleading. The photo dates back to 2018 and shows 70 displaced children receiving tablets and sums of money in the Durumi camp in Nigeria. The gifts were distributed by the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria's capital Abuja, to celebrate Israel's 70th anniversary, at the time.
Many Nigerians have been displaced to other cities as a result of the Boko Haram attacks.
On the African continent, Israel has ten embassies, while 15 African countries have permanent embassies in Israel.
