Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar's investigation revealed that the claim is misleading, as the video is old and was first published in 2017. It depicts Russian troops using mortar shells to destroy a group of tanks in northern Ukraine's Donbas region.

The Donbas region is one of the most contentious areas between the two countries. It was divided into separate areas controlled by the Ukrainian government and pro-Russian separatists in 2014. The two sides agreed to withdraw heavy weapons, exchange prisoners, and have a short-term ceasefire during that time.

The claim coincided with the escalation of Russia's war in Ukraine, which began on February 24, despite international efforts to halt ground combat.
