Emerging story

Social media users have circulated an image of a tractor towing a rocket claiming that it depicts a Ukrainian farmer stealing a Russian rocket using his tractor.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar has investigated the claim and found it to be fake. The image was altered to add a tractor.

Using Google Image Reverse Search, we found that the original picture was already uploaded to the Alamy image store as taken on Oct. 9, 2018. It does not feature any tractor.

According to the website, the NASA image is accompanied by the following caption: “The Soyuz MS-10 spacecraft is rolled out by train to the launch pad in preparation for launch at the Baikonur Cosmodrome on Oct. 9, 2018, in Baikonur, Kazakhstan.”
