The Claim

Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, wore a Neo-Nazi symbol while he addressed the U.S. Congress on March 16.

Emerging story

In a video shared on social media, President Zelenskyy is alleged to be wearing a shirt with the iron cross symbol, which is a Nazi emblem.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar's team investigated the claim and found it to be misleading. This claim by itself seems paradoxical, even before the investigation was completed, since President Zelenskyy is Jewish.

Following an investigation, Misbar's team determined that the symbol on the President's shirt is the emblem which distinguishes Ukraine's armed forces, as shown in the image below.

Description: The emblem can also be found via the official website of Ukraine's Ministry of Defence.

Although several platforms clarified that the symbol was not intended to have any connection to Nazism, Some social media users still hold to the claim.
