Social media users recently shared a photo purporting to show smoke rising from Jizan Airport in Saudi Arabia as the Houthis targeted it with drones.

Misbar investigated the claim and found it to be misleading. The circulating photo is old and was published by local Egyptian media on July 12, 2018, along with other photos depicting a fire caused by an explosion at Heliopolis Chemical Industries stores near Cairo airport.

A military spokesman for the Egyptian Armed Forces, Colonel Gharib Abdel Hafiz, posted on Facebook that the explosion occurred because of high temperatures.

The claim emerged after the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) announced on Tuesday evening that the Saudi army had intercepted a ballistic missile fired at Jizan.
